Braga 0-2 CFR Cluj

Rafael Bastos scores twice as CFR Cluj move to the top of their Champions League group with a win over Braga.

A brace from Rafael Bastos has given CFR Cluj a 2-0 victory over Braga in the opening week of the Champions League.

The Romanian side looked dangerous on the counter-attack in the early stages and this tactic proved successful for the visitors in the 19th minute.

Modou Sougou's pace drew a number of Braga defenders out of position and the midfielder provided a perfect delivery for Bastos, with the striker making no mistake from close range.

Cluj doubled their lead before the break and it was Bastos once again on the end of a flowing move and his curling shot beat a helpless Beto.

Lille dominated possession throughout the contest but failed to reduce the deficit during a long spell of the pressure at the start of the second half.

Mario Felgueiras was busy in the Cluj goal during the latter stages of the second period as Ruben Micael tried for a vital goal that would have opened the door for Braga.

However, the visitors remained stubborn in defence and were able to hold on for a famous triumph in Europe.
