Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Charlton Athletic will be aiming to keep within touching distance of the playoff places when they host Ipswich Town in League One action on Saturday.

Charlton will seek to return to winning ways here after suffering a 2-0 defeat in midweek to MK Dons, ending a run of three consecutive wins for the Addicks.

Will Grigg's penalty and a Bradley Johnson free kick secured victory for the Dons at 10-man Charlton, to end a run of five straight league defeats for Liam Manning's side.

Ryan Inniss was dismissed after collecting a second yellow card for bringing down Louie Barry inside the penalty area, before Grigg took full advantage from the spot. Johnson then doubled the lead with a superbly struck 78th minute free kick from 20 yards out to seal all three points.

Prior to that, Charlton had recorded some impressive results beating fellow playoff chasers Portsmouth at The Valley, before travelling to Montgomery Waters Meadow to conquer Shrewsbury Town.

Ben Garner's men remain four points off the playoff spots, and they now face the challenge of toppling an Ipswich Town side that have only lost once on their travels so far this season.

Ipswich have enjoyed a strong start to their League One campaign, winning 11, drawing three and losing two of their opening 16 fixtures so far.

The Blues have responded accordingly after suffering consecutive defeats in separate competitions against Lincoln City and Cambridge United.

Wes Burns's strike in the 67th minute was enough to beat Derby County 1-0 last Friday, before Freddie Ladapo's brace, along with Cameron Humphreys's effort, edged a closely-fought contest in midweek against Port Vale.

Those back-to-back victories mean that Tractor Boys remain two points behind leaders Plymouth Argyle, and they could leapfrog them into first position should results favour them here.

Kieran McKenna's side have won six of their eight matches away from home this season, so they will be fancying their chances of potentially going top of the table.

Team News

The home side will be without Ryan Inniss after his sending-off against MK Dons, while Miles Leaburn is enjoying a breakthrough season with the club, but remains on the sidelines for this game due to an ankle injury.

In his absence, Jayden Stockley and Charlie Kirk are poised to start in attack, having both started in the most recent match against MK Dons.

Meanwhile, Cameron Burgess remains a long-term absentee for the visitors, while Lee Evans looks set to miss out again here after limping off against Derby.

Captain Sam Morsy will return to proceedings on Saturday after sitting out against Port Vale due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Wollacott; Egbo, Lavelle, O'Connell, Sessegnon; Rak-Sakyi, Dobson, Fraser, Campbell; Stockley, Kirk

Ipswich Town possible starting lineup:
Walton; Donacien, Woolfenden, Edmundson; Burns, Ball, Humphreys, Davis; Chaplin, Ladapo, Harness

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-3 Ipswich Town

Ipswich's away record speaks for itself coming into this one, and there is a 14-point gap between the sides in the table.

Ultimately, we think the quality from Kieran McKenna's side will shine through.
