Blackburn Rovers draw 1-1 with Charlton in their first game since Steve Kean resigned as manager.

Blackburn Rovers began life post-Steve Kean with a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic at the Valley this afternoon.

The Scot resigned from his Ewood Park post on Friday night after a two-year spell dominated by ownership issues and fan protests regarding his management.

The Rovers faithful that had campaigned against his tenure had another reason to be pleased when Dickson Etuhu gave them a 16th-minute lead against the Addicks with a powerful close-range strike.

Home captain Johnnie Jackson levelled the scores 10 minutes later when, after his initial penalty was saved by Paul Robinson, he converted the rebound past the helpless former England international.

Charlton struck the post in the latter stages of the first half through Danny Green's shot and went close again in the second period through Salim Kerkar.

Caretaker boss Eric Black looked on nervously as Charlton pushed for a late winner, which nearly came through Bradley Wright-Phillips's overhead kick.

However, Robinson was on hand to save the acrobatic effort as Rovers hung on for their third away draw of the season.
