Laurent Blanc hails PSG for winning Champions League tie with Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain deserved to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, says manager Laurent Blanc.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has insisted that his team deserved to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

A late header by Thiago Silva earned the French champions a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which was enough for them win the tie on away goals.

Blanc told reporters: "We played the better football and created more chances. Even a man down, the players were very ambitious. We defended very well and it was a fantastic performance from the whole group.

"We want to be one of Europe's top clubs. This game will be seen as a turning point in the history of the club and I'm really happy tonight. We won't forget this game. At the end of the match, everyone came together. You'd like to freeze time to appreciate it fully."

PSG were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Chelsea last year.
