Roberto Di Matteo describes Chelsea's Champions League triumph in Munich as "an incredible achievement".

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has described his side's Champions League triumph as "incredible".

The Blues came from behind to beat Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich 4-3 on penalties after beating Barcelona, Benfica and Napoli in earlier rounds to reach the final.

"Football and life are unpredictable at times," he said.

"I don't think we could have predicted what's happened over the last three months, it's been difficult but to finish like this is an incredible achievement.

"Preparation for the game was difficult with suspensions and injuries, it wasn't ideal for a Champions League final but the desire and motivation has shown again tonight."

Di Matteo took charge at Stamford Bridge following Andre Villas-Boas's dismissal in March.
