Paris Saint-Germain secure win over Chelsea

Chelsea trail 3-1 at the end of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have lost 3-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final this evening.

The French champions took the lead just three minutes in when Ezequiel Lavezzi volleyed the ball in from a failed John Terry clearance.

Chelsea were able to get back on level terms shortly before the half-hour mark when Oscar was brought down in the box by Thiago Silva, allowing Edin Hazard to calmly slot the ball in from the penalty spot.

Lavezzi had a chance for a second shortly before the break, but was denied by a Petr Cech save while Hazard hit the post at the other end shortly after.

Lavezzi continued to look dangerous at the start of the second half, heading just over shortly after the restart after being given plenty of space in the Chelsea box.

The scorer of the opening goal set up PSG's second, curling the ball in towards Zlatan Ibrahimovic from a free kick, only for David Luiz to turn the ball into his own net.

Ibrahimovic had a chance to increase the home side's lead just moments later, but saw his effort blocked, shortly before being forced off with an apparent leg injury.

PSG continued to press into the final 15 minutes as they looked to leave themselves in a strong position ahead of next week's trip to Stamford Bridge, but shots from Edinson Cavani and Yohan Cayabe failed to find the target.

Hazard tried to find Frank Lampard late on to give the visitors a second away goal, but a poor first touch saw the opportunity pass without a shot.

The miss proved costly a few minutes later, as Javier Pastore, who came off the bench late on, slotted the ball in from a tight angle to leave Chelsea two goals down.
