Eden Hazard is handed a start for Chelsea's trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Eden Hazard has been handed a start for Chelsea's trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tonight.

The Belgian has made just one competitive start for the Premier League champions this term - an EFL Cup victory over Nottingham Forest last week - after ankle surgery over the summer but is in the mix from the off tonight at the newly-opened Wanda Metropolitano.

Cesc Fabregas also earns a recall to the starting XI, joining Hazard and Alvaro Morata - fresh from a hat-trick at Stoke City on Saturday - in the attack, with Pedro and Willian dropping down to the bench.

There are also two changes in the back three, with David Luiz back in the fold as he continues a domestic suspension alongside returning skipper Gary Cahill. Cesar Azpilicueta stays put on the right of the backline, with Thibaut Courtois in goal as Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger drop to the bench.

The four-man midfield is intact following the win over the Potters, with summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko lining up alongside Victor Moses, N'Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso.

As for the hosts, ex-Blues striker Fernando Torres starts on the bench tonight as Diego Simeone makes five changes from the side that started the 2-0 win over Sevilla on Saturday.

Partnering Antoine Griezmann up front is Angel Correa - in for Luciano Vietto - while Gabi starts among the subs after picking up a knee injury.

Thomas Partey comes in for the skipper in a midfield that also includes Koke, Saul Niguez and Yannick Carrasco.

Simeone shuffles his backline with three changes as Juanfran, Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez come in for Sime Vrsaljko, Stefan Savic and Moises Gomez. Filipe Luis keeps his place on the left of the back four and Jan Oblak retains the gloves.

Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Juanfran, Godin, L Hernandez, Filipe Luis; Koke, Partey, Niguez, Carrasco; Correa, Griezmann
Subs: Moya, Savic, Gimenez, Gabi, Gaitan, Torres, Vietto

Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso; Fabregas, Hazard; Morata
Subs: Caballero, Rudiger, Christensen, Zappacosta, Willian, Pedro, Batshuayi
