Chelsea injury latest vs. Servette: How many defenders will miss European tie?

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's Europa Conference League playoff tie against Servette.

Chelsea return to action on Thursday evening when they face Servette in the first leg of their Europa Conference League playoff.

The Blues commenced their campaign at the weekend as Enzo Maresca's new-look side went down by a 2-0 scoreline to Premier League champions Manchester City.

While the priority will be earning a top-four finish come the end of the season, everyone associated with Chelsea are eager to go deep in this competition.

Servette have started their Swiss Super League campaign by collecting nine points from their opening five fixtures, seeing them sit in fifth position in the standings.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with the Maroons, who lost to Braga in Europa League qualifying.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Bournemouth)

Having played an active part in pre-season, Reece James would have hoped to have remained fit. However, after sustaining what has been reported to be a minor hamstring injury, the right-back may not return until after the September international break. Nevertheless, he was still named in the squad for this game.

Marc Cucurella

Status: Minor doubt

Possible return date: August 22 (vs. Servette)

Marc Cucurella needed to be withdrawn during the closing stages against Man City having either suffered a knee issue or cramp. Either way, the decision may be taken to rest the left-back for this contest.
