Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has ended 2024 as the top scorer in Europe's leagues over the course of the calendar year.
The Swedish striker enjoyed an incredible 12 months in which he plundered 36 goals in only 35 league appearances for the Portuguese outfit, helping the club to the Primeira Liga title along the way.
Gyokeres's form throughout 2024 has seen him emerge as one of the hottest forward properties in world football, with a number of Europe's biggest clubs understood to be tracking him and considering triggering his release clause in 2025.
There is good reason for that too, with the 26-year-old former Coventry City man beating a host of more established star names to the accolade of Europe's best goalscorer for the year.
Bayern Munich's Harry Kane was his closest challenger, but he 'only' managed 29 goals in 30 games - a clear seven goals short of Gyokeres.
Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah were among the other high-profile names left looking up at the Sporting man.
The goalscoring future looks bright for Sweden, though, with two Swedes in the top eight scorers for the year - Gyokeres and Newcastle United man Alexander Isak, who netted 25 goals in 33 games.
England (Kane and Cole Palmer) and Norway (Haaland and Alexander Sorloth) were the other nations to boast more than one representative in the top 10.
Six different leagues were represented in the top 10, but it was the Premier League that dominated with four different players - Haaland led the way with 27, while Palmer (26), Isak (25) and Salah (23) were not too far behind.
Here, Sports Mole runs through Europe's top 10 goalscorers in 2024.
