Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Monday's Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chelsea open their Premier League campaign on Monday evening with the relatively-short trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite being afforded an extra two-day break in comparison to some of their rivals, the Blues are back in action just over five weeks after their Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.

While the off-season has given some players enough time to recover from injuries, Frank Lampard continues to have to deal with a number of selection issues.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the encounter against their South-Coast opponents.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Despite completing a big-money switch to the Blues, Chilwell arrived at Stamford Bridge with an ankle injury which he sustained in July. While the left-back is closing in on a return to full training, he will not feature in the team's opening game.

Billy Gilmour

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

After suffering a significant knee injury against Crystal Palace in July, Gilmour has been ruled out until the end of the autumn at the earliest.

Christian Pulisic

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Brighton)

Having suffered a serious hamstring injury against Arsenal in last month's FA Cup final, it was feared that Pulisic could spend a number of months on the sidelines. However, Lampard has revealed that the USA international is pushing to feature on Monday night.

Hakim Ziyech

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 26 (vs. West Bromwich Albion)

On his opening outing for the Blues in a friendly against Monday's opponents, Ziyech sustained what was described as "a little twist to the knee". Lampard has acknowledged that the Moroccan will be sidelined until the end of the month.
