Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.

Chelsea seek an immediate response to their latest demoralising defeat when they host Liverpool in Tuesday's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues' four-game unbeaten streak came to an end at home to Aston Villa on Saturday evening, as Ollie Watkins and John McGinn struck either side of the half-time whistle in a 2-0 win for Unai Emery's men.

Defeat to the Lions ultimately led to Graham Potter losing his job, and he leaves the Blues in the bottom half of the table in 11th spot, but their eighth-placed opponents are hardly brimming with confidence either.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with Liverpool, who were thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City at the weekend.

Armando Broja

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Armando Broja remains on the long road to recovery from a serious knee injury sustained during the World Cup break, and the Albanian striker will not play again this season.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: April 15 (vs. Brighton & Hove Albion)

Chelsea continue to take a cautious approach with Cesar Azpilicueta, who was admitted to hospital after suffering a concussion against Southampton in February, and but the defender is also dealing with a knee issue.

Thiago Silva

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: April 15 (vs. Brighton & Hove Albion)

Thiago Silva was ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury sustained against Tottenham Hotspur at the end of February, meaning that the experienced centre-back could be back in the fold in a fortnight's time.

Raheem Sterling

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: April 4 (vs. Liverpool)

Raheem Sterling was not ready to return from a hamstring problem for the defeat to Villa, but Potter expressed hope that the England attacker would be a part of the squad on Tuesday.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: April 4 (vs. Liverpool)

In an identical scenario to Sterling, Wesley Fofana's hamstring injury kept him out of the weekend's match, but the French centre-back should be in with a chance of featuring in midweek.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: April 4 (vs. Liverpool)

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still struggling to overcome a back problem which has kept him sidelined since the middle of March, and it remains to be seen if the striker will be given the green light to feature here.

Edouard Mendy

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Finger
Possible return date: April 4 (vs. Liverpool)

Edouard Mendy returned to first-team training a couple of weeks ago after recovering from a fractured finger, but he was not part of the squad to face Villa, and the quick turnaround makes him a major doubt for Tuesday's game too.
