Chelsea have allowed manager Antonio Conte to appoint another of his allies in Davide Mazzotta as part of his backroom staff, according to a report.
The former Juventus boss, who is said to have been left frustrated by transfer activity so far this summer, has been on the lookout for a new right-hand man following Steve Holland's departure.
Holland left to take on a full-time position with the England national side, and The Telegraph reports that Conte has got his wish by being given the green light to bring in Mazzotta.
It is claimed that Mazzotta will not directly replace Holland, though, as he is expected to take up more of an analysis and scouting role behind the scenes, having previously worked as the opposition scout for the Italy national side.
Premier League champions Chelsea have yet to bring in any high-profile players during the off-season, but Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alex Sandro are both said to be close to finalising deals.
