Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta says that youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi must keep on working hard in order to maintain a place in the first-team squad.

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has encouraged Callum Hudson-Odoi to "keep his head" when provided with opportunities in the first team.

Hudson-Odoi has emerged as one of the stars of the club's pre-season, and head coach Maurizio Sarri has said that the 17-year-old will feature in his squad for the upcoming campaign.

Azpilicueta is one of Chelsea's most experienced players, and the Spaniard has acknowledged that the youngster must keep working hard in order to continue his recent progress.

The 28-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I made my debut when I was 17 for Osasuna. It is about consistency. Callum is coming from academy level. He played with us a few times last season, he has been with us this pre-season and he is improving and that is really important.

"I know that he still has room to improve. He is 17, he can go really far and I am sure that if he keeps his head, with the way he is working and performing he will be very good."

Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to feature when Chelsea face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon.
