Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck expects success under new manager Antonio Conte

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck is "confident" that Antonio Conte will be successful as the club's new manager.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has claimed that Antonio Conte can continue his "high standard of achievement" at Stamford Bridge following his appointment as manager.

The 46-year-old, who previously coached Juventus, was heavily linked to the job following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December.

It has now been confirmed that Conte, who has signed a three-year deal, will take charge of the Blues once he vacates his post as Italy national coach at the end of this summer's European Championships in France.

Guus Hiddink will continue his role as interim manager until the end of the season.

Following the announcement of Conte's appointment, Buck told the club's official website: "Antonio Conte has a record of consistent success in his career as a manager and as a player. We look forward to welcoming him to Stamford Bridge and are confident he will find all he needs to maintain that high standard of achievement."

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: "We are very pleased to have recruited one of the most highly regarded managers in world football and we are equally pleased to do so before the end of the current season. This aids our future planning.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Guus Hiddink, who has done a great job since he joined us in December."

Hiddink will continue his role as interim manager until the end of the season.
