Nathaniel Chalobah praises "fantastic" Steve Clarke

Nathaniel Chalobah has revealed that chance of working with Reading boss Steve Clarke persuaded him to join the club on loan.

Nathaniel Chalobah has revealed that the prospect of working with Steve Clarke was a factor in his decision to join Reading.

The Chelsea midfielder has linked up with the Championship side on loan for the remainder of the season.

Chalobah hopes that he can develop his game under Royals boss Clarke, who played and coached at Chelsea.

"The manager is fantastic and I want to learn as much as I can," the 20-year-old told Reading's official website.

"His links with Chelsea helped to bring me here, but it was more important what he had planned for me and where he sees me, I had that conversation with him. That's what swayed my decision. He asked a few things of me, he thinks I've got the ability and the legs to go forward and get goals.

"I'm not experienced – I'm 20 years old and for me it's about being able to learn new things every single day and become better as a player."

Chalobah netted his first Reading goal in the 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
