The Football Association has decided to charge Chelsea for failing to control their players during Sunday's 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.
Both Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba were handed red cards by referee Chris Foy during the opening 45 minutes at Loftus Road.
The charge relates to the incident which saw full-back Bosingwa dismissed, with a number of Blues players surrounding Foy to argue against his decision.
Meanwhile, the FA has written to Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas to ask for an explanation regarding his post-match comments about Foy's performance.
Both parties have until Friday to respond.
