Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has hailed the performance of striker Fernando Torres during the Community Shield on Sunday.
The Spaniard gave the Blues the lead before Premier League champions Manchester City came back to win the match 3-2 at Villa Park.
Torres received a lot of criticism for his poor performances last season, but the Italian manager is happy with the striker.
"He was good," Di Matteo said.
"He scored a goal but he also worked very hard for the team, ran a lot and looked good.
"He moved a lot, was in good positions, played with the other team members as well so it was a good performance."
Torres finished Euro 2012 as the Golden Boot winner earlier this summer.
