Didier Drogba admits that Major League Soccer is "ahead of" the Chinese Super League.

Didier Drogba has said that Major League Soccer is "ahead of" the Chinese Super League in terms of development.

The former Chelsea striker, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expired at the end of the season, has now completed his move to Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua and admits that he is looking forward to the challenge.

"I don't think China is ahead of MLS," he said.

"I am a man of challenges. To go and try to build something in a different league and a different continent, to get more people involved in the sport in [China], it's a good experience."

Drogba will team up with former Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka at the club.
