Dermot Gallagher: 'Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez dived versus Chelsea'

Former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher claims that Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez dived to try to win a penalty against Chelsea.

Former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher has claimed that Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez dived to try to win a penalty against Chelsea.

After moving into the area, Mahrez went down under a challenge from Andreas Christensen, who made slight contact with the Algerian international when deciding to stand his ground.

However, Gallagher feels that the playmaker attempted to deceive the referee and should have been handed a yellow card.

Gallagher told Sky Sports News: "Definitely not a foul whatsoever. I think it is a dive, the referee (Mike Jones) did not.

"What I would say is that, I hear some people say that will be referred, but that cannot be referred because there was no penalty given. So therefore, case closed."

The match at Stamford Bridge ended in a goalless draw.
