Harry Redknapp has revealed that a deal to sign Eden Hazard was set in motion when he was manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
The football coach, who is currently out of work since leaving Birmingham City, was in charge of Spurs between 2008 and 2012.
Hazard moved to Chelsea during Redknapp's final year at White Hart Lane, and has gone on to win two Premier League titles, the EFL Cup and Europa League with the Blues.
"I went to France and met him in a hotel room," Redknapp told BT Sport. "I was with him for three hours - that's probably why he didn't sign! I could have had him at Tottenham. We wanted him but the club didn't get the deal done."
In 11 appearances in all competitions, Hazard has scored three goals and created two assists.
