Chelsea's Eden Hazard: 'I told Jose Mourinho to play me at number 10'

Eden Hazard reveals that he told Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to play him at number 10 in order to help end the team's Premier League slump.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed that he told manager Jose Mourinho to change his position in the team in order to get the best out of his ability.

The Belgium international, who was named PFA Player of the Year last season, has struggled to recapture the form that helped the Blues ease to the Premier League title in the 2014-15 campaign.

Chelsea are currently 15th in the league table, 12 points behind a Champions League spot after 13 games.

Hazard, who is generally positioned on the left flank, has claimed that he told Mourinho to play him centrally at number 10, and in that role the 24-year-old impressed during Chelsea's 1-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

"We spoke together before the Stoke game," the London Evening Standard quotes Hazard as saying. "I said to him, 'maybe we have to try something, to change something. Maybe I have to play at number 10 because we have to try'.

"We did and I played a very good game in the [League] Cup in Stoke, and [against Norwich] it was the same. I don't know if I have to play every game as a number 10. I just want to play."

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that the club are prepared to sell Hazard if Mourinho gives the green light.
