Joe Cole: 'Jose Mourinho the best in the world'

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole backs his former manager Jose Mourinho to turn around the reigning Premier League champions' season.

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has called for his former club to stick with Jose Mourinho, whom he believes is "the best manager in the world".

The 34-year-old, currently on loan at League One side Coventry City from Aston Villa, feels that his former coach will see Chelsea's current plight as a challenge and backs him to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

The former England international told Sky Sports News: "It is difficult from the outside to put your finger on what the problems are and usually when teams are not getting results, it is usually a collection of things but the main thing you have got to think about is you have got the best manager in the world there, fact.

"That is not down to opinion, he is the most decorated manager over the different leagues. I think for Chelsea to move forward they have to stick with the manager.

"Nobody goes through their whole career all roses, there is always bumps in the road, there are always runs where things do not go well no matter who you are. He will be relishing this, he will see this as a challenge of his management skills and I am pretty sure he will turn it around."

Chelsea head to face first-placed Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
