Paul Lambert bemoans refereeing decisions

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert insists that his side should have been awarded a penalty in tonight's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that his side were the victims of poor refereeing decisions following their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

The Villans boss believes that Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic should have been dismissed for elbowing Christian Benteke, and said they were entitled to a penalty courtesy of a John Terry handball.

"It is easy to come on here and have sour grapes but it is there for everybody to see. He clearly elbowed Christian Benteke, it was a sending-off," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"The penalty was a penalty, everybody saw that. He missed two huge moments. How can you miss that magnitude of a decision? It is beyond me."

Benteke cancelled out an early own goal from Antonio Luna, but Ivanovic headed home a Chelsea winner in the 73rd minute.
