Mata: "Torres will be at the Euros"

Spanish international Juan Mata has backed his Chelsea teammate Fernando Torres to force his way into Vicente Del Bosque's plans for Euro 2012 this summer.

Torres was dropped for a recent friendly clash against Venezuela as a result of a poor run of form in front of goal.

However, the 28-year-old brought an end to his five-month goalscoring drought yesterday with two goals against Leicester City.

Mata believes that Torres's previous record in a Spain shirt will count in his favour when the squad is selected.

"In the end, I think that Torres will be at the Euros," Mata told Cadena SER. "He has enough credit to play for Spain.

"He has given a lot to the national team and to the clubs where he has been. I am sure that he will do great things until the end of the season. Del Bosque will have a [selection] problem."

Torres has made 91 appearances at international level.
