John Obi Mikel urges Chelsea to ignore the Premier League in order to focus on the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

John Obi Mikel has claimed that Chelsea need to focus on winning the Champions League and FA Cup.

Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United has all but ended Chelsea's hopes of finishing in the top four this season and Mikel believes that they should turn their attentions to cup competitions.

Roberto Di Matteo's team face Liverpool on Saturday in the FA Cup final before a May 19 Champions League final against Bayern Munich and Mikel insists that they must take advantage of both games.

The Nigerian said: "The top four has gone and now the only chance we have to qualify for the Champions League is to win the final in Munich.

"That is what everyone at Chelsea wants, the players, supporters and the club. We must concentrate on that.

"But first we have to make sure we win the FA Cup final on Saturday. We can't let that opportunity pass."

Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League.
