Jose Mourinho: 'Middlesbrough important for Patrick Bamford development'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that Patrick Bamford's loan spell with Middlesbrough is "very important" to the striker's development.

Jose Mourinho has said that Middlesbrough's push towards promotion to the Premier League is "very important" for Patrick Bamford's development.

The Chelsea striker has spent the season on loan with Aitor Karanka's side, scoring 19 goals in 41 appearances for the current Championship leaders.

"He has a chance to be promoted with Middlesbrough. That's why he is there, to develop himself and to help Middlesbrough. This is the only thing that matters," West London Sport quotes the manager as saying.

"We think these last three matches and the possibility of an extra two or three in the playoffs are very important for his development."

Bamford has previously had loan spells with Derby County and MK Dons.
