Jose Mourinho confirms Eva Carneiro, Jon Fearn absence

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirms that Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn, two members of the Blues' medical team, will not be present on the bench against Manchester City.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn will not be part of the club's medical team for the match at Manchester City.

During the closing stages of Chelsea's match with Swansea City, Carneiro and Fearn entered the playing area to attend to Eden Hazard, which resulted in criticism from Mourinho who was upset that his team had been left with nine men.

After being backed in the media and by the public, Carneiro acknowledged her support on Twitter, but the move reportedly resulted in further tension with Mourinho, with the decision being made to banish both Carneiro and Fearn, a physio at the club, from the bench.

In a statement, the 52-year-old said: "I want to say I have a fantastic medical team led by Dr Paco Biosca, more than a dozen professionals, very good relations with them and, as they tell me all the time, they were never praised so much as in the last few years.

"I praise them lots of times. We have disagreements during this period, we need disagreements to improve. We work together.

"Jon Fearn and Dr Carneiro will not be on the bench on Sunday, but that doesn't mean they cannot be in the future."

Carneiro has been in the position of club doctor since 2011.
