Jose Mourinho fined £50,000, given suspended one-match stadium ban

The FA fines Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho £50,000 and give the Portuguese a suspended one-match stadium ban after his comments about match officials earlier this month.

The Football Association has fined Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho £50,000 and given the Portuguese a suspended one-match stadium ban after he was found in breach of FA rules earlier this month.

Following Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Southampton on October 3, Mourinho launched a seven-minute rant during a television interview, when he claimed that match officials were "afraid" to give decisions to the Blues.

It was alleged that his remarks "constituted improper conduct in that they alleged and/or implied bias on the part of a match official" and now the FA has dished out a fine of £50,000 and given the Portuguese a suspended one-match ban after he admitted to a breach of the rules.

A statement on the FA's official website read: "Mr Mourinho's suspended stadium ban will be immediately invoked should he be found by an Independent Regulatory Commission to have committed a further breach of FA Rule E3 for any comment or statement to or through the media before October 13, 2016."

Chelsea insisted earlier this month that Mourinho has the "full support" of the club despite making their worst start to a season for almost 30 years.
