Jose Mourinho: Lukaku move is a "perfect scenario" for all

Jose Mourinho claims that Romelu Lukaku's move from Chelsea to Everton was a "perfect scenario" for all concerned.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that Romelu Lukaku's move to Everton was a "perfect scenario" for all concerned.

The powerful Belgian striker officially joined the Toffees on a permanent deal for a club-record £28m on Wednesday, and the Portuguese coach said that the switch was one that suited all parties.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's possible [he'll learn more at Everton]. We wish him good. This was good for Chelsea, and him and obviously Everton, and when that's the case, it is the perfect scenario.

"He wants to feel that he is first choice and has complete trust from [Everton manager] Roberto Martinez. People in Goodison Park, they love him and they show him that every match. He was with us a couple of months last year in pre-season, he played in the Super Cup and we felt at the time that this is not what he wants for his career. He didn't want to be fighting with people with a top dimension.

"Diego Costa is 25 and has a five-year contract, but most probably will have another contract after that so he's here for a long time. We have Didier and Fernando Torres and Romelu is in a good team. I think it is a great choice for him. I think he's happy now."

Chelsea have added Diego Costa and Didier Drogba to their striking ranks this summer, while Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba have left.
