Tottenham Hotspur's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night represented the first time that Jose Mourinho has ever lost back-to-back home league fixtures.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has recorded back-to-back home league defeats for the first time in his career.

Mourinho has made an impact in North London since his arrival in November 2019, helping Spurs into Premier League title contention earlier in the season.

However, Spurs now find themselves 14 points adrift of leaders Manchester City after a period of just three wins from 12 matches since November 29.

To make matters worse for Mourinho, Thursday's night 1-0 reverse against former club Chelsea marked the first time that he had ever suffered successive home defeats in the league.

The setback ends a remarkable run of 327 matches dating back to 2000 when he began his managerial career at Benfica.

Mourinho will hope to avoid a third defeat in a row when Spurs play host to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon.
