Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that centre-back duo John Terry and Gary Cahill urged him to sign Radamel Falcao this summer.
The Colombian joined the Premier League champions on loan from AS Monaco earlier this month, having endured a disappointing season-long spell with Manchester United last term.
Nevertheless, Mourinho says that Terry and Cahill were impressed by the 29-year-old's movement in the Red Devils' 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge earlier this year, and signed him on their advice.
"I watched our game against Manchester United a few times," he told reporters.
"I spoke with John and Cahill a lot about him and we think the bright movement is there, the movement to get freedom in the box to score goals is there.
"Our players had difficulty to control him and we feel the potential is there. Let's see if he can improve his confidence, his happiness."
Falcao netted just four goals in 26 Premier League outings last time around.
