Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino uses a Coldplay song to describe his opinion on Chelsea's season and questions asked in each press conference.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has used a song from Coldplay to describe his feelings on the club's season and repetitiveness of questions asked of him by the media.

The Argentine is nearing the end of his first campaign in charge of the Blues, the target to end the season on far more of a high than how they started.

As it stands, that objective is closer to being achieved, Chelsea having recorded three successive victories to move within one win of a guaranteed top-seven finish in the Premier League standings.

However, because there have been times when Chelsea have suffered a heavy defeat or shown their inexperience, questions continue to be asked of Pochettino.

Speculation persists that the 52-year-old could be removed from his position in the dugout, regardless of how Chelsea end the season.

Pochettino himself has also not necessarily helped matters, feeling required to clarify comments that have been made at different times with regards to his happiness.

What did Pochettino have to say ahead of Brighton game?

Ahead of facing Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday, Pochettino was generally in a jovial mood when addressing the media, yet he eventually acknowledged that he was being asked the same questions each week, sometimes in different ways.

When quizzed on what may be perceived to be a successful season for Chelsea, he opted to compare the situation to the lyrics of a song by Coldplay called 'Fix You'.

Speaking to reporters, Pochettino said: "The problem in England, what happens, if after 10 games you are at the top and winning games, what happens after is relative. The problem is we are punished because of the first 10 games.

"If we count after 10 games, I think we are in the top four. That is the problem because you are punished because of the first 10 games.

"Look, I want to be positive. I don't want to talk anymore. I don't want to say we are young and we have had to cope with injuries. If not, about the evolution in different aspects of the game and to evolve and be positive.

"Now it is like we are stuck, like the song of Coldplay, stuck and reverse. We are stuck in every single press conference. Stuck and going back in reverse. You remember the song? I am a fan [of Coldplay]. The song is Fix You."

What lyrics could Pochettino be referring to?

The opening of the aforementioned song starts with the line: 'When you try your best, but you don't succeed. When you get what you want, but not what you need'.

That could possibly refer to Pochettino and his team having worked hard to achieve Chelsea's targets, yet having not quite reached the top four in the Premier League.

Alternatively, the 'stuck in reverse' reference may be in relation to the media being focused on matters that have happened in the past, Chelsea's inconsistency during the opening months under Pochettino ultimately costing them at this point in time.
