Allegations that Chelsea captain John Terry racially abused Queens Park Rangers player Anton Ferdinand during Sunday's 1-0 match are being investigated by police after a complaint from a member of the public.
Footage of Terry appearing to mutter a racial slur towards Ferdinand circulated on the internet after the match, but the England skipper has categorically denied making racist remarks.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that police have been notified of an incident on Sunday, October 23 involving alleged racial abuse.
"This is currently being assessed by officers from Hammersmith and Fulham."
QPR officials will meet with Ferdinand today to discuss the matter and whether to report it to the FA.
