Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger "ashamed" of Bournemouth defeat

Defender Antonio Rudiger says that both he and his Chelsea teammates should feel "ashamed" after the club's 4-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Antonio Rudiger has acknowledged that Chelsea deserved their criticism after the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Chelsea conceded four second-half goals at the Vitality Stadium, and the result led to Maurizio Sarri keeping his players in the changing room for an hour after the match.

The Blues have also lost their hold of fourth place in the Premier League standings, and Rudiger feels that both he and his teammates should feel "ashamed" after their capitulation on the South coast.

The Germany international is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Everyone needs to be ashamed of what happened in the last game. Everyone needs to think very deeply about that because you can win, lose or draw, but it's the manner which is important.

"In the second half, I can't really describe it. We went out and they scored after two minutes then things went very badly. Nothing came from us - N'Golo [Kante] had a half chance but that was it.

"If you look at the view of football, we made it too easy for Bournemouth by losing the ball up front - everyone knows Bournemouth are going on the counter, and they were waiting for this."

Chelsea are next in action when they host Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
