Tottenham Hotspur 'object to Steve Holland taking on England coaching role'

Chelsea coach Steve Holland could be denied the chance to join Gareth Southgate's England staff, as Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly unhappy about the move.

Tottenham Hotspur are the only Premier League club objecting to Chelsea coach Steve Holland taking over as England's assistant manager, according to a report.

The 46-year-old is said to have been earmarked by manager-in-waiting Gareth Southgate to join his Three Lions coaching staff after being granted permission by the Blues to continue in the dual role.

However, The Sun claims Spurs are unhappy that Holland could receive inside information on their English players' fitness and abilities and have therefore blocked the move.

It is suggested that Tottenham fear the Chelsea chief may potentially pass the information on to his club side when he returns to duty, granting their London rivals an unfair advantage.

Holland formed a part of Southgate's setup during his interim spell in charge, which ended with England winning two and drawing two of their four games.
