John Terry: FA Cup win could secure Roberto Di Matteo job

John Terry believes that an FA Cup final win would go a long way to securing Roberto Di Matteo the permanent position as manager of Chelsea.

Chelsea captain John Terry has acknowledged what an FA Cup final win would do for Roberto Di Matteo's chances of getting the manager's job full-time.

The Italian is currently in interim charge at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas in March.

His success since taking over, particularly in the Champions League, has led to him being tipped to get the position permanently at the end of the season.

Terry has praised Di Matteo's work to date and believes that a victory over Liverpool could secure him the job full-time.

"It would do him no harm at all. He's obviously done very well in the league and all competitions to get us where we are today. To win it will put himself in a very good position," he said.

"He's very passionate, he's Chelsea through and through, and that's certainly rubbed off on the players.

"So, if we can do it with the added bonus that Robbie can get the job at the end, that'd be great."

Di Matteo famously scored an FA Cup final goal during his playing days with the Blues, when he netted within 42 seconds against Middlesbrough in 1997.
