Torres takes swipe at AVB

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has hinted that his former manager Andre Villas-Boas never had confidence in him.

The Spanish frontman finally ended his 25-hour goal drought with a brace in the Blues' 5-2 win over Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

The 27-year-old admitted that he has received the backing of interim boss Roberto Di Matteo after being awarded a spot in the starting lineup.

"I feel the confidence of the manager now and obviously it's a good thing for me and for Chelsea," The Mirror quotes Torres as saying.

The Blues will face either Tottenham Hotspur or Bolton Wanderers in the semi-final of the cup competition. However, reports have emerged that the Trotters may pull out of the tournament due to midfielder Fabrice Muamba's current critical condition in hospital.
