Andre Villas-Boas blasts Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas criticises Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich for the treatment he received at the club, insisting that he does not know what is best for the Blues in the long run.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has criticised former club Chelsea, claiming that they "do not have a plan".

The Portuguese boss was sacked by the Blues after just nine months in charge, despite being appointed on a three-year contract, which left him unhappy that club owner Roman Abramovich had broken a promise.

Villas-Boas believes that is an easy option for a club to change manager, and does not think that Abramovich knows what is best for the European champions in the long run.

"There are no plans at Chelsea, it's results that rule," Villas-Boas said in The Sun. "There are times in football when it's easier to replace the coach.

"But when you embrace a project you believe in people. There was a commitment from Abramovich and his word was given.

"Yet there was a premature departure."

Since Villas-Boas's departure from Stamford Bridge, Abramovich has sacked Champions League-winning Roberto Di Matteo and installed Rafael Benitez as interim boss until the end of the season.
