Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas heaps praise upon Frank Lampard after the England international scores in his side's 3-0 win over Bolton.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has praised Frank Lampard's performance in his side's 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Lampard scored the Blues' third goal having been restored to the lineup alongside Ashley Cole and Michael Essien, all of whom were left out for Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.

Reports had suggested that Villas-Boas had fallen out with the England international, but the Portuguese boss was quick to heap praise upon the midfielder following Saturday's result.

"He had a fantastic game today. There is competition, six players competing for three positions," said the 34-year-old manager.

"He had his chance today and played fantastically well. It is a normal squad rotation and nothing new.

"His performance was great because he helped the team in his possession and defending."

Lampard joined Chelsea in 2001, scoring 182 goals in 541 appearances.
