Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has called on his side to continue climbing up the table ahead of this weekend's clash with Wigan Athletic.
Chelsea handed Premier League leaders Manchester City their first defeat of the season on Monday night to close the gap between the clubs to seven points.
While Roberto Mancini's side welcome in-form Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium this weekend, Villas-Boas believes that his side must continue to look up.
"The fact that Manchester United have moved to within two points of City because of our victory changes the perspective of how the Premier League looks," he told the club's official website.
"Nothing is decided in December and January, we have reduced the distance by five points over the last four games and Man City play Arsenal this weekend so that could have an influence.
"We play Wigan, Tottenham, Fulham and Aston Villa; if we can shorten it by another five points that would be magnificent but we will see."
Chelsea can take their winning run to four games with a win at Wigan this weekend.
