Ray Wilkins: 'Chelsea captain John Terry is Jose Mourinho on the pitch'

Ray Wilkins believes that John Terry is like Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho when he is on the pitch.

Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins has praised John Terry's influence in the dressing room following the Blues' Premier League title triumph on Sunday.

The 34-year-old has played every minute of Chelsea's league fixtures this season, including last weekend's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, which sealed their first title in five years.

Wilkins, who has worked with Terry in the past, believes that the defender shares manager Jose Mourinho's attributes when he is on the pitch.

"John has been the outstanding defender in the league, not only for this season but the last X amount of years," Wilkins told Sky Sports News.

"He's a fantastic leader and that's what a lot of people don't see, the way he controls the dressing room for Jose Mourinho, he is Jose on the pitch - they are both winners.

"What Jose did when he came back in was to get hold of John immediately and tell him he was the man for him and that has been displayed by John all season."

Chelsea will lift the trophy at Stamford Bridge following their game against Sunderland on May 24.
