Manchester City end winless run against Chelsea

A second-half penalty save by Joe Hart inspires Manchester City to a 2-0 victory over Chelsea, ending the Citizens' winless league run.

A second-half penalty save by Joe Hart inspired Premier League champions Manchester City to an important 2-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

Hart was at full stretch to deny Frank Lampard from 12 yards on 51 minutes, after the England stopper had brought down Demba Ba.

Lampard's miss was punished by Yaya Toure 12 minutes later, as the Ivorian international, playing in his first home match since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, dribbled the ball into the area before stroking home from 10 yards.

Substitute Carlos Tevez guaranteed that the points stayed in the North West with a superb strike from long range five minutes from time.

The result halted a run of three winless league games for City, which was their worst under manager Roberto Mancini.
