Toby Alderweireld: 'I'm happy to stay in England'

Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld claims that he wants to remain in the Premier League despite being unsure over which club he will join.

Toby Alderweireld has stated that he is happy to remain in the Premier Leaugue despite uncertainly regarding which club he will join.

The Belgian was on loan at Southampton from Atletico Madrid last season and impressed during his spell at St Mary's Stadium.

Chelsea and Manchester City are rumoured to be interested in the defender, who will discuss his long-term future when he returns to Madrid.

He told The Mirror: "The only thing I can say is that I'm happy in England, but it isn't just up to me. I had a fantastic season at Southampton and after I have been on holiday I will talk with Atletico.

"I don't have an answer now, but hopefully Atletico will tell me quickly what is happening. It would be good to come back to England."

Alderweireld featured for Belgium in their Euro 2016 qualifying loss to Wales on Friday evening.
