Barcelona are seeking legal clarity over the prospect of re-signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Chelsea striker's disappointing start at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona are reportedly seeking legal clarity over the prospect of re-signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea.

The 33-year-old is understood to be desperate to return to Camp Nou, following a disappointing start to his career at Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph reports that the club want to bring Aubameyang back, but are worried about the Spanish FA rules that prevented Dani Ceballos from returning to Real Betis on loan from Real Madrid four years ago.

The former Arsenal midfielder moved to Los Blancos in the summer of 2017, but only started four games in his debut season, and as a result, his former club wanted him back on loan.

However, Article 126.5 of the RFEF General Regulations state that a player who has had their license cancelled cannot obtain a new one for the same club in the same season and therefore the move was refused.

Barcelona fear that that rule will apply to the Gabon international and that they will not be able to re-sign him as a result.
