Chelsea transfer news: Axel Disasi 'to be left out' of squad for Bournemouth Premier League fixture

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca will reportedly leave one of his central defenders out of the squad for Tuesday's game with Bournemouth ahead of a potential exit.

Chelsea are reportedly open to parting ways with Axel Disasi before the end of the January transfer window.

Disasi has made a total of 15 starts and one substitute outing in all competitions during 2024-25, despite ongoing speculation regarding his future.

As recently as December 22, the 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the Blues kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw at Everton, but an error that led to a goal in a 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Town saw the Frenchman lose his place in the side.

Although the centre-back returned to start against Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, it appears that his future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, club officials are increasingly open to facilitating an exit for the former Monaco man over the coming weeks.

Squad omission incoming?

Romano claims that it has already been determined that Disasi will be left out of the squad for Tuesday's Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.

"Important clubs" are said to be in discussions with Chelsea regarding a deal before the February 3 deadline, Chelsea likely wanting to oversee some kind of departure sooner rather than later.

Furthermore, talks are already said to have been held with the player, who remains on 352 minutes of Premier League football for 2024-25.

Juventus have recently been credited with an interest in Disasi, while he is expected to have other suitors around Europe.

How will Chelsea resolve defensive issues?

For all the talk of Chelsea possessing a bloated squad, they may soon be losing two central-defensive options when Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are already sidelined through injury.

Renato Veiga is said to be pushing for a transfer to Borussia Dortmund in order to be used as a centre-back on a regular basis, rather than being deployed in several different roles by Maresca.

Ahead of the Bournemouth game, Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong and Tosin Adarabioyo are the remaining options available to Maresca.

Speculation persists regarding a potential approach for Marc Guehi, while recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan stint at the same club Crystal Palace is still on the table.
