Chelsea are allegedly contemplating whether to make a summer approach for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Chelsea are reportedly continuing to monitor the progress of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Despite being with the Yorkshire giants since 2020-21, it has taken time for Summerville to make his mark at Elland Road.

Four goals and two assists came from 28 Premier League appearances last season, an indication of progress, but the Dutchman has really come to the fore in the Championship since last August.

A magnificent 15 strikes and eight assists have been contributed from 33 outings, with the 22-year-old one of the standout performers in the second tier.

With Leeds sitting in third position in the standings, there is every chance that Summerville could be plying his trade in England's top flight once again later this year.

However, with less than two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen whether any offers will arrive that may tempt Leeds into a sale.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are monitoring the situation with the view of potentially making an approach for the former Feyenoord youngster.

The report claims that Chelsea scouts have watched Summerville in person on several occasions, and have been left further encouraged that he could be a success at Stamford Bridge.

Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams is also named as a target and it is already known that it will cost in the region of £43m to sign the Spain international due to the release clause in his contract.

While Chelsea currently have a selection of wide players at the club, only Cole Palmer has shown any sustained level of consistency under Mauricio Pochettino.

Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk have all contributed in patches, yet have not done enough to justify an extended run in the starting lineup.

As it stands, it is unclear whether Chelsea would have to cash in on one of the trio to acquire a new wideman, a consequence of the club having announced losses of more than £90m for the 2022-23 campaign.

Chelsea are under pressure to ensure that they abide by all Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules in order to avoid a points penalty, with Pochettino acknowledging on Thursday at a press conference that he is unsure whether funds will be made available for transfers in the summer.
