Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly earmarked Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal as one of his main transfer targets.
Vidal previously played under Conte for three seasons at Juventus, helping the Italian giants to the Serie A title in each of those campaigns.
The Chile international moved to Bayern Munich in 2015, but Spanish newspaper Don Balon claims that he is looking for a new challenge and would welcome the chance to link up with Conte once again.
The report goes on to state that Chelsea have tabled a £42m bid for the 29-year-old in an effort to tempt the German champions into selling.
Vidal has made just eight Bundesliga starts for Bayern this season, and the Bavarian outfit could be open to the idea of selling due to the rise of youngsters Joshua Kimmich and Renato Sanches.
Any deal is likely to take place next summer rather than in January, though, with Vidal keen to see whether the current Premier League leaders can secure a return to the Champions League this season.
