A number of Chelsea players are reportedly surprised that the club are yet to agree a fresh contract with defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

A number of Chelsea players have reportedly been left surprised that Cesar Azpilicueta is yet to sign a new contract.

The club captain, who made his 444th appearance for the Blues on Wednesday night, has less than seven months remaining on his existing terms.

Chelsea have been in the process of attempting to agree new deals with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Thiago Silva.

However, according to Eurosport, several of Azpilicueta's teammates are shocked that the club legend is yet to pen a contract through until the end of next season.

The report adds that the 32-year-old has also been left frustrated at a time when he is attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

As it stands, Azpilicueta, who has not played in his homeland since 2010, can speak with both clubs next month regarding a pre-contract agreement.
