Chelsea and Antonio Rudiger are reportedly no closer to reaching an agreement over a new long-term contract.

Chelsea have reportedly made no further progress in their bid to agree a new contract with defender Antonio Rudiger.

The Germany international has emerged as a key player under Thomas Tuchel, helping the Blues win last season's Champions League.

However, the 28-year-old now has just nine months on his contract, a scenario which has put Chelsea at risk of losing one of their most influential players on a free transfer.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the relevant parties are yet to reach an agreement over an improved salary.

Nevertheless, Romano hints that Rudgier's preference is to remain at Stamford Bridge having established himself as a senior figure in the dressing room.

Aware that they could potentially be allowed to hold talks with Rudiger in January, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both said to be monitoring the situation
