Chelsea to bid £20m for Douglas Costa?

Chelsea are preparing to offer £20m to finally sign Douglas Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer, according to reports.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly instructed the club to launch another bid to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa.

Reports in January suggested that Chelsea were close to securing a deal to bring the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge, but an agreement was never in place and the Premier League leaders eventually turned their attention to Juan Cuadrado.

However, The Mirror suggests that Chelsea are hopeful that an offer of £20m will persuade Shakhtar to sell Costa, despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The report claims that Mourinho has asked for regular updates about the 24-year-old's fitness ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to finally land a long-term target.

Costa has scored three goals in 22 appearances for Shakhtar this season.
